Farm calls:
A fully stocked truck is available to provide care to your livestock
right on the farm. This is especially useful when it is impossible to
load your animals onto a trailer or in situations when there are too
many animals to haul in to the clinic. We also provide farm calls for
routine herd health visits, health certificates, pregnancy checks, and
other herd work that involves larger numbers of animals. We have a
For-Most portable chute with attached palpation cage available for
rent, when Rugby Veterinary Service provides herd work services.

In-hospital examinations:
A haul-in facility is available with drive through access for easy
unloading and loading. We have a sturdy handling facility, which
includes a headgate, squeeze chute, dehorning table and a palpation
cage to easily handle cows, bulls and calves.

 |
In-hospital surgery:
General bovine surgeries, including caesareans, are done inside our
large animal surgery area. Due to the large area that we cover, all
calving emergencies are done in the clinic.
For your horses, we provide castrations (except cryptorchid situations) and basic laceration repairs.

Standard herd health programs:
Consultation services are available to address vaccination programs,
de-worming routines, bio-security issues, Johne’s management, scour
management and prevention, and many other health management issues.

 |
Pharmacy: An
on-site pharmacy is available to provide prescription medications for
your cattle and horses. In order for a prescription to be valid, one of
the Rugby Veterinary Service doctors must have examined at least one
animal in your herd within the last two years. This is to be in
accordance with federal law. We are also able to fill prescriptions
called in by your regularly attending veterinarian.
|
 |
Vaccinations:
All routine vaccines are available. If there is a special request for a
particular vaccine that we do not regularly carry we can special order
and, in many cases, drop ship the order directly to your farm.
|
 |
Reproduction:
We provide pregnancy testing on cows and heifers and semen testing
(breeding soundness examinations) on bulls. Pregnancy testing gives us
information that can help you better manage and market your cows.
When bulls are fertility tested the eyes, feet, legs, and general
health condition are also evaluated to give us a complete picture of
your bull’s fitness and overall health.

Herd health consultation/Farm visit:
This service is provided to allow us to gain more knowledge of your
particular operation and helps us to provide advice and recommendations
to help you become more profitable. This service also allows us to
maintain the Veterinarian – Client – Patient relationship that is
required in order to legally prescribe medications to treat your
animals. Ask us for more details about this service.
